Health & Wellness Coaching

A health and wellness coach works one-on-one with individuals who want to improve their health and well-being. When it comes to health and wellness there are many factors to take into consideration such as nutrition, lifestyle, exercise, or adding some herbs or natural supplements into your daily routine. Sometimes it is helpful to have someone to discuss these things with, to encourage and help you in considering all aspects of where you are at right now and your goals of where you would like to be with your health.

Hello and Welcome! My name is Kari Thorne and I am a certified Herbalist and Health & Wellness Coach. If you are not sure where to start or what direction to take, or if you are feeling overwhelmed, or unsure of how to continue in pursuing your goals in health and wellness - I'm here to help and encourage you. All of my appointments are done over the phone from the comfort of your own home.

My story began when I was a child growing up in the 80's, in the Northwoods of Minnesota, and my mom read the book "Sugar Blues". There were many other books my parents also read with a lot of information that helped to guide our family away from the American diet and standard medical practices of the day, into a more natural, holistic, healthy lifestyle. My parents made many beneficial decisions and choices that helped to make me who I am, and still guide me today. Growing up, we were rarely sick and enjoyed all the healthy, fun activities of a growing family - camping, hiking, cross country skiing, gardening, canning, home-schooling and making lots of fun family memories.

During my later teen years, health began to change for some of us. Lyme disease was not something that was as commonly known about then as it is now, so as symptoms appeared we tried to deal with them the best ways we knew how, not realizing there were underlying complications. After seeing many main-stream medical doctors for issues such as chronic pain, digestive issues and other very intense symptoms, we found a holistic practitioner that helped guide us. We began learning about so many more things in the areas of health and wellness, helping us to understand how to deal with the underlying issues of our symptoms. With a lot of new information from many more books and studies we were on our way to regaining health.

One thing I have learned over the years is that health is a gift and must be maintained. What this looks like in practical terms will be different for each of us, as we are each uniquely created and designed with our own strengths and weaknesses. Something that works well for one person, may not be the answer for someone else. There are many systems and methods of healing, health and wellness. No single method is superior or right for everyone. Someone may benefit from herbs, another from an antibiotic, another from a walk in the woods, and another from a spiritual exercise or experience. Life is a gift, sustained by God, and given to us along with a free will of how we will choose to live it. Let us seek to be faithful stewards of the time we have here on Earth, and use our resources wisely to maintain our spirit, soul and body in health and wellness, to the best of our abilities.
